Sleeping Beauty
puppet play
Aliz Mosonyi’s Sleeping Beauty adaptation breaks away boldly from the tale, which served as its starting point, but all the classical fairy tale motives have their precise role in the closely woven story. The precise connections and backward references make the script clearly dramatic. The writer not only retells the story but essentially creates a new one. The protagonist of the adaptation is Susie (Zsuzsi), the royal witch, who besides cleaning and tidying the royal court deals with predictions and witchcraft. The adaptation of classic fairy tales has an important role in the lives of every company; our aim is to help children in this achievement centered world. “Let the fairy tales help them” (Andersen); children enjoy to hear again and again the well known stories; they have favourite motives and characters. Aliz Mosonyi’s Sleeping Beauty grants entertainment for children and adults as well, embellished with humour and references aimed at adult ears, without forcing the “jokes” on the story. We would like to create family theatre and family performance, in which every age group understands and feels different layers.
