The Grimm Brothers have grown up on romantic literature and chivalric romances. Their collecting activity, started in the first part of the 1800s, preserved such classical tales for posterity on which generations were raised up including the children of our days. One of these is the tale of Hansel and Gretel, whose plot is familiar for all the people regardless of their age. The main pillar of the 2011 adaptation is exactly this detachment of age: the tale of the two siblings could happen in our time as well since we tell the story in our time. Our aim is not to present the old tale in a new form, but to make it more human and more understandable to the children of the present. Hansel and Gretel are two cheerful, chatty children, in their thoughts we recognize our children, our neighbors or even ourselves. The expressive performance of the sculpturesque, full-body puppets is completed by the puppeteers’ presence, state and acting. The plot, which is often engaged in interactions with children, and the comely text, that permits improvisations, prevents
the well known classical story from becoming a triviality.

The puppet show entitled Hansel and Gretel as a result of ambitious creative work offers pleasant entertainment for the audience of the puppet theater, for the young, the older and the
oldest as well.
