The Barbarians
based on the short story by Móricz Zsigmond
dance performance
From a dramaturgical point of view, Móricz's short story is very similar to Greek drama: its typical character portrayals and relationships serve as a great base for a dance theatre adaptation. How can a man, originally created to be good, conquer his instincts? Can we transcend our instincts at all? What does a holiday mean today? Can grief be a celebration? What is the most cruel consequence of our sins? These are the questions our play seeks answers for, while trying to create a musical world that brings back those ancient times when musician and dancer were engaged in a very special dialogue.
