Black Saffron

based on Áron Tamási’s work of the same name a tale for adults

The story is about the fact that people at certain important points of their lives have to make decisions and these decisions can be right or wrong. If the decision is wrong, people need to overcome all the difficulties and face their destinies. Truth always has to win. On the other hand if the mutual will doesn’t exist, things mustn’t be forced. A young and handsome gypsy lad lives in the village of Sántamalom (Lame Mill). He was called Black Saffron (Fekete Sáfrán) and he decided to get married. He was working as a blacksmith, but he was a great enemy of labour. He put down his hammer and started off to find the right girl. Before long he found not one but two girls. One of them belonged to his own kind, diligent and beautiful but otherwise poor. The other girl was rich but doesn’t belong to the gypsy lad’s kind.
