The short story The Gospel According to Mark by Jorge Luis Borges shows the highs and lows of human stupidity and suggestibility in matters of faith.

The protagonist enters the life of a single-parent family. The text upon which the performance is based shows the immense gap between the individual and their community, intellectually as well as emotionally. It is about the parallel between reality and imagination, blind faith, and the way a master can fall victim to his disciple.

Through the contrast between sacred and profane, the show demonstrates the changes that faith, suggestibility, and sacrifice can cause in an individual's character.
