Marie Jones

Stones in His Pockets

Translated by::

Kovács Levente Jr. is 50 years old this year. He has been an actor for 28 years. Kardos M. Róbert is also 50. This is his 25th year as an actor.

Stones in his Pockets is the story of two shabby Irish extras, Charlie and Jake. The setting is a small village in Ireland, invaded by a Hollywood film crew, somewhere in the early 90's. Unfortunately, the filming doesn't go smoothly, and of course, the movie production machinery leaves scars on the local community, even getting to the point of tragedy. But the encounter ends in hope, when following a funeral that degenerated into a scandal, the two weather-worn clown characters come up with the idea of a screenplay: Stones in his Pockets.

The two outstanding actors of our company undertake the task of performing the whole bizarre whirl of the American crew and the Irish village. The two of them play all the 18 (!) characters of the drama.

Marie Jones' play is very attractive because it offers the opportunity of a sensational play-acting, passing from one character into another, in a dense—at times funny, at other times heart-wrenching—hour and a half.
