William Shakespeare
Rómeó és Júlia
in the programme Theatre in the School, School in the Theatre
Szigligeti Theatre's programme Theatre in the School, School in the Theatre will continue in the new season. Its original aim was to bring young people closer to theatre, to a significant work of Hungarian and universal literature, to help develop their reading skills, and give them a glimpse into theatrical processes, and help them learn to ex[ress themselves by means of theatre. The program started in the season of 2011/2012, with the play Csongor és Tünde, and continued the next season, when students made up short scenes inspired by the play Gellérthegyi álmok by Ferenc Karinthy, and the “one-minute short stories” of István Örkény. School and university students worked in teams, led by actors. Last year, at the 200th anniversary of Ede Szigligeti's birth, they worked with the playwright's masterwork, with the title Liliomfi-remix. In the season of 2014/2015, we celebrate 450 years from the birth of William Shakespeare, so students will put Romeo and Juliet to the stage, according to their own unique visions.
