Festive Events for International Dance Day
Since 1983, International Dance Day is celebrated on 29 April, on the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, a titan of classical ballet. To mark the day, Nagyvárad Ensemble is offering diverse events for all lovers of dance.
On this day, between 11 am and 1 pm, the dancers of Nagyvárad Ensemble, Dalma Kerekes and Imola T?kés will hold a workshop titled Body Awareness Training, on which participants will discover the joy of motion in a playful way. After this, at 2—4 pm, all those interested are welcome to take part in a folk dance teaching session. In the first part, between 2—3 pm, Jácint Forgács-Popp and Enik?-Ágnes Szabó will teach dances from the Transylvanian Plain, and then, at 3—4 pm, boys and men will have a chance to learn the male solo dance of Bucovina szeklers called “silladri”, from instructor Sándor Brugós.
After an hour's pause, at 5 pm, Nagyvárad Ensemble and Csillagocska Ensemble will host a folk dance event for children. Dances will be taught by Zsombor Forgács, and songs by Ilona Szerefi. In the evening, the children's event will continue with a party for grown-ups, during which NTE's artists will teach traditional dances to all those interested. At both parties, Soroglya Band and the orchestra of Csillagocska Folk Dance Group will play. All aforementioned events will take place in Szigligeti Studio. Entrance is free but because the studio's capacity is limited, please announce your intention to participate by sending an email to nagyvaradtancegyuttes@gmail.com. In your message, please include your name, phone number, and the title of the event you wish to participate in. Members of Nagyvárad Ensemble are looking forward to meeting you!
