Borderless Dance Capital
This is the title given to the festival of professional Hungarian folk dance groups from outside Hungary's borders. The event will take place between 16—18 May 2017, and on its opening night, Nagyvárad Ensemble will take the stage with its performance The Shrew.
Professional dance ensembles from outside Hungary's borders do have the chance from time to time to present their shows in Budapest, but this is the first time that the performances will take place as part of a single event, hosted by National Dance Theatre and Heritage House (both from Hungary). The mini-festival serves not only to present the freshest performances from workshops beyond the state border, but, thanks to the complementary events such as exhibitions, professional debates and dance houses, audiences are able to get a real picture of the situation and results of ensembles all over the Carpathian basin.
Events during the three-day festival will take place at many diffierent venues. Besides our artists, the following ensembles will perform: Háromszék Ensemble, Maros Art Ensemble, Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, Bekecs Folk Dance Ensemble, Hargita National Szekler Folk Ensemble. The Shrew by Nagyvárad Ensemble will be performed on the stage of Várkert Bazár, on 16 May.
