Nagyvárad Ensemble in Permanent Motion
November is a very busy month for Szigligeti Theatre’s Nagyvárad Ensemble. As rehearsals for new folk performance are underway, the ensemble’s schedule is loaded with a series of tours.
Sea of Nations, choreographed by Gerg? Sánta, an preview of which has already been presented to local audiences on 26 October, will be played on the big stage of the theatre in 8 December. Before that, however, the ensemble’s schedule still has a few surprises. Tomorrow, at 7 pm, the passion play The Stranger, based on the short story The Gospel According to Mark by Jorge Luis Borges and put to the stage by director-choreographer Csaba Györfi, will be played in Szigligeti Studio, after opening in October. The performance has been invited to the Gala of the Union of Hungarian Dance Artists, an organization celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. So, on Friday, 23 November, a part of the passion play will be presented to the Budapest audience.
Following the Budapest tour, the ensemble travels to Zalau, where folk singer Ilona Szerefi will perform her one-woman-show The Garden of Gold. At the end of November, our shows Barbarians and Collisions are going on tour in Hungary. Barbarians, directed by Csaba Györfi, will play on 28 November in Dunaújváros, whereas Collisions will be on stage the next day on Gárdonyi Géza Theatre Eger. Both performances are sponsored by the National Cultural Fund of Hungary.
