The Garden of Gold - Before Christmas

Szerefi Ilona’s one-woman show will be played on 22 December, at 7 pm, at Szigligeti Studio. In this special performance, the magical stories of or ancestors come to life, in an original interpretation, with prayers. ritual texts, live music and songs. Szerefi Ilona’s exceptionally rich performance is composed of authentic musical material and texts, reviving the diverse culture of Hungarian people.

Through the legend, preserved in the oral tradition of the Seklers and the Csángó peope in Moldova, that serves as a base for the show, the performer guides her audience into previously unknown dimensions of the Hungarian creation-saga. On this evening before Christmas, Szerefi Ilona presents us the Golden Father and the Silver Lady who, in her desperation, asks her son, the World-carer, to help her, and try to save humanity.

The performance is recommended to adults and children alike.
