Csinibaba - Back on Stage

On the 22th of February, the musical comedy Csinibaba returns to the stage.

The performance, based on a text by Márton Gyula, features the colourful characters of a condo’s community in Hungary in the 1960s who hope to use a talent show as a springboard to get to Helsinki for the World Youth Meeting – which, after all, is the West. Director Novák Eszter has created a performance rich in humour, but also in thought-provoking and meaningful scenes, with the participation of Szigligeti Company and part of Nagyvárad Ensemble. The plot of the episodic production is set in the so-called “Goulash Communism” of Hungary, with all its shadows and beauty, its greyness and optimism, its isolation and prosperity. The performance includes a great number of well-known and beloved old Hungarian hits.
