Drama Contest is On

Debut Category

Any individual may compete with one or more dramas written in Hungarian language that have not yet been published in print or presented officially as a professional performance. The play should remain unpresented on stage until the end of the year following the announcement of the winners.

There is no restriction regarding the theme and the genre of the play.

Entries should be the applicant's own intellectual product.

Entries accepted in electronic format only.

The play considered best by the jury will be rewarded with 1000 Euros gross. The award will be paid within 30 days from the signing of the contract, following the announcement of winners.

If Szigligeti Theatre will consider it possible, the best play or plays will be put to the stage in the season of 2018/2019 or the next.

The announcers will publish the text in its original language.

 

DrámaÍRÓ Category

Any individual whose dramas have already been published or presented on stage can compete with a drama written in Hungarian.

The play should remain unpresented on stage until the end of the year following the announcement of the winners.

There is no restriction regarding the theme and the genre of the play.

Entries should be the applicant's own intellectual product.

Entries accepted in electronic format only.

The play considered best by the jury will be rewarded with 1000 Euros gross. The award will be paid within 30 days from the signing of the contract, following the announcement of winners.

If Szigligeti Theatre will consider it possible, the best play or plays will be put to the stage in the season of 2018/2019 or the next.

The announcers will publish the text in its original language.

 

dramAUTOR

Any individual may compete with a drama written in Romanian.

The play should remain unpresented on stage until the end of the year following the announcement of the winners.

There is no restriction regarding the theme and the genre of the play.

Entries should be the applicant's own intellectual product.

Entries accepted in electronic format only.

The play considered best by the jury will be presented in one of the organizing theatres in the season of 2018/2019 or the next, if possible. At the same time, the announcers will publish the text in its original language as well as in Hungarian translation.

 

Entries should be sent to office@szinhaz.ro until 30 April 2018.

 

The contest is codename based. Besides the text and its title, the e-mail should contain only the codename individually chosen by the contestant, and the name of the contest. The indication of the contestant's real name or known pen name is prohibited!

Results will be announced in September 2018, at the 10th dráMA Festival of Contemporary Theatre. The names of the winners will be published on the organizers' official internet pages as well as in press releases.

Only Tomcsa Sándor Theatre and Szigligeti Theatre have the right to adapt the winning plays to the stage. This right applies to the whole world, for 2 (two) years after the announcement of the results. The two theatres – based on an agreement with the aithor – may transmit the right to third parties.

Tomcsa Sándor Theatre and Szigligeti Theatre manage the entries confidentially, and will nullify unprized entries within 1 month following the announcement of the results.

Contestants will assent to the publication of their names, based on an agreement with Tomcsa Sándor Theatre and Szigligeti Theatre.

Tomcsa Sándor Theatre and Szigligeti Theatre reserve the right to partially or entirely cancel the contest.

The contest announcement does not result in any obligation to contract regarding Tomcsa Sándor Theatre and Szigligeti Theatre, nor does it qualify as a contract offer.
