Speak of God...
“There is only one joy in life, that all things pass, and this hurts sometimes, but pain, too, will pass, and that is already a joy” – this is how people console each other in a place where happiness is watered with bitterness right from the start.
The plot is set on the last – if not the only – street of an unnamed village in Hungary, and its main location, the pub. Officially, of course, it's a café, Misi's Café, after the owner. A place where hard drinks are drunk with beer, and where God is challanged every day – on credit, of course. And yet, the place is a goldmine: it's where the whole fancy colony of the street throws its pearls away, with no shame, and it's where they all take joy together – in the other one's misery.
But when does joy become gloating? How many “last drops” will still fit into the glass, once half empty, and at other times, half full? And when it's long full, how long can we point (God's) finger at each other? And when is it too late to realize how good it was before it became the way it is now?
The answers, bitter and sweet, funny and tragic, are all to be found in the pub.
Enjoy responsably!
Cheers!
